Carrie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Adenocarcinoma with bone metastasis in April 2017. She had been feeling sick for around a year and in May the doctors discovered she had cancer. After finding out she had cancer, Carrie wrote on her caringbridge page that she wants to stay positive and laugh and enjoy each day and so far she has! She lives with the motto "LET'S DO THIS!!!" and wears a bracelet on her wrist that says it. Carrie is currently taking the miracle drug Tarceva (chemo targeted pill). Tarceva is not a permanent solution which is why raising money for cancer research is so important.
